Anxiety Statistics

Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental illnesses in the United States. It affects about 18.1% of the population yearly. Although anxiety is very treatable, only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment. There are also many disorders within anxiety. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) affects 3.1% of the U.S. population (6.8 million people), but only 43.2% go to get treatment. Panic Disorder (PD) affects 2.7% of the U.S. population (6 million people) and women are twice as likely to be susceptible to it. Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) affects 6.8% if the U.S. population (15 million people) and both women and men are equally susceptible.
